LSFN Hosts Annual Career Fair

April showers bring May flowers, but it’s also a sign of the annual Career Fair hosted by the Economic Development Department of Lac Seul First Nation.

This year was bigger and better than ever with 108 organizations joining in on the opportunity.

Stan Wesley, from Moose Cree First Nation, joined as the events MC and guided the community and organizations through the day while keeping the crowds entertained and laughing.

Students joined from various schools and were able to explore possible future career paths. Lyric, who attended from Pelican Falls First Nations High School noted his interest in the numerous opportunities in the field of mining. He commented, “I really love this, I really do. I’m enjoying it so far. I really hope I can get a lot more information on these other careers.”

His classmate, David, noted his interest in Hydro One as they are a provider of power for First Nation Communities.

Keon Littledeer, from Sioux North High School, enjoyed how easy it was to navigate the booths and learn about different jobs. He commented, “The career fair is awesome to get a summer job out of… Anderson’s Lodge is pretty cool.”

Paulina Alexis, who rose to fame with her role as Wilie Jack on the hit show Reservation Dogs, attended as a keynote speaker. She spoke to a packed room about walking in confidence and knowing you belong. She was available for a Q&A session and autographs afterwards.
