The department oversees land use planning, environmental concerns, and resource development to ensure land is used responsibly and sustainably. Their role is to balance economic opportunities with long-term environmental health, while respecting community priorities, and cultural values.

Initiatives

  • Boreal Caribou Study

    The Lac Seul Boreal Caribou Study (LSBCS) is a Youth Education, Conservation and Habitat Protection Project funded by Environment Canada and partnered with Grand Treaty 3.

    GIS/Mapping technology will be used with collected data to develop maps outlining areas of caribou.

    This project will occur in two phases: January-March 24/25 and April-March 25/26.
