Strengthening and Preserving Our Families
Our Family Resource Branch is based on our community-led process of reclaiming our ways of looking after our children and families. This reflects a return to our sacred responsibilities to care for our children and families based on values, traditions and practices.
While we come together under a united, long-term vision for our families through our strategy and jurisdiction processes: Obishikokaang Bimadiziwin Miikinah (Drug and Alcohol Strategy) and Obishikokaang Abinoojii Onakoniikewin Meekanah (OAOM) we also recognize the need to improve access to services and address immediate needs of families.
The Family Resource Branch brings all community-based child and family services together under one umbrella to work towards coordinated wraparound services for our families.
Chief Family Resource Officer (CFRO)
In September 2024, Chief and Council made the decision to create the Child and Family Resources Officer (CFRO) position to bring our child and family departments under one umbrella. The purpose of this new structure is to align services to create a coordinated and streamlined process for children, youth and families.
The goal is to have all child and family services departments (OAOM, Dehnahwekanug, OSG and Post Majority) working together under a common vision and collaborating on the best ways to support our children, youth and families. We are moving forward together based on our sacred responsibilities to our children based on our values and teachings.
The Chief Family Resources Officer (CFRO) oversees all Obishikokaang strategies, processes and departments related to the wellbeing of our children, youth and families.

Dehnawehmakanug - Prevention
Guided by the LSFN Drug and Alcohol Strategy Committee (Obishikokaang Biimaadiiziwin Miikanah), and the department works to support healing, wellness, recovery and community safety for individuals and families across Lac Seul.

Obishikokaang Sagatay Gamik
Supporting our children, youth and families involved with the child welfare system by providing advocacy for families who are experiencing involvement with the child welfare system.

Supporting youth (between 18-25 years) who were previously in care.
