Lac Seul First Nation Hosts First Annual Golf Tournament

On August 13, 2026 Lac Seul First Nation hosted its first annual fundraising golf tournament. Spearheaded by Economic Development, the tournament raised over 26 thousand in funds to support youth sports and recreation programs in Lac Seul First Nation.

Golfers were greeted at 8:00am Thursday morning for registration and received a swag bag compliments of IFNA. Coffee and tea were available as well as homemade blueberry and bananas muffins donated by Marie Norton and Cory Smith.

At 9:00am 78 golfers (18 teams) hit the course with a shot gun start to see if they had the skills to become LSFN’s first tournament winners. While competition was close, one team dominated the leaderboard. With a score of 62, Big Tree came out on top. Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Most Honest, and Average Joes.

Additional prizes were awarded. Brayden Edwards won Winnipeg Jets tickets donated by Lac Seul Chief and Council for the door prize, Jeremiah Windigo recieved an IPhone 17 Max Pro as part of a draw, and Dina Maud took home $1010 from the 50/50.

Golfers had nothing but words of praise when asked about the days events. Grant Power from Sigfusson commented, “The day was fantastic. A Great event for a great cause.” Remi Leclair from Enviro Tem expressed that the day was well organized with good people and made for a great day.

Economic Development and Lac Seul First Nation would like to extend their gratitude to all participants and sponsors that made the event possible.

More Fundraising Efforts

Economic Development were not the only ones fundraising on behalf of the youth. Lac Seul Education Authority held a bbq with all funds going towards their Travel Club’s next trip to Italy and Greece over March Break 2027. With over 20 kids signed up, this will be LSEA’s first multi-grade international trip.
