Pre-Apprenticeship Millwright Program

Confederation College will be offering a Pre-Apprenticeship Millwright program in Red Lake beginning October 19th, 2026 and running until the end of March 2027. All successful participants will obtain their level 1 upon course completion.

There is no cost to participate, tuition, books, and PPE are covered. However, please note there is no training allowance, eligible participants may qualify for Employment Insurance (EI) during the duration of the training program. The program also includes an 8-week paid work placement. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in pursing a career in the skilled trades and may lead to employment opportunities following the work placement.

Participants should be prepared for a flexible training schedule as classes may be held during the day, in the evenings, and on weekends where required to accommodate programming and training requirements. Applicants are expected to be available for all scheduled training sessions throughout the duration of the program.

Program requirements/ applicants must:

• Have grade 12 or equivalent

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Be legally eligible to work in Canada

• Be a resident of Ontario

• Be able to complete the 8–12-week paid work placement

• Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the skilled trades
