2026 Census Community Update

Beginning May 29, 2026, a team of 5–6 Census workers will be visiting all three communities for approximately one week. Census workers will be going door-to-door to assist community members with completing their 2026 Census forms and to answer any questions about the process.

Information posters about the 2026 Census will be available at all three Band Offices starting June 1, 2026.

The Census of Population is a nationwide survey that counts every person living in Canada based on their usual place of residence—the place where they live most of the time.

Census information is important because it helps governments and Indigenous communities make informed decisions about programs and services. Indigenous communities use census data to support planning and evaluation in areas such as education, employment, healthcare, housing, and early childhood development.

Community participation helps ensure that population information is accurate and that communities have access to the data needed for future planning and resource allocation.
